08 February 2011 RoSPA’S FLEET DRIVER TRAINING REACHES RUSSIAThe Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has recently expanded its global influence by welcoming three driver trainers from Russia to its headquarters in Birmingham. Sergey Moiseev, general director at Active Safety LLC, and Vladimir Leontenkov, health, safety and environment manager at Shell Exploration and Production, took RoSPA’s Advanced Driving course as well as the National Diploma in Advanced Instruction. Zaur Shkhalakhov, a driver trainer with Active Safety LLC, undertook the Advanced Driving course. All three passed to a high standard and will put their new skills into practice back in Russia where they are involved in training fleet drivers. This was the last National Diploma in Advanced Instruction to be conducted for delegates from abroad, as RoSPA has since developed a new International Diploma that its trainers can take to customers overseas to ensure that local driving cultures are reflected in the course. Sergey said: “I’ve learned a lot from the advanced driving courses, and feel much more confident behind the wheel now.” Vladimir agreed, saying: “The National Diploma in Advanced Instruction was the best driving course I’ve ever done. I have improved very much during my time here.” Rick Wood, head of training in RoSPA’s driver and fleet solutions team, said: “We are really pleased to be taking RoSPA’s - and the UK’s - proven skills to foreign climes. Sergey, Vladimir and Zaur made excellent progress during their time here, and RoSPA’s trainers are looking forward to working with them again in Russia in the next few weeks.” The National Diploma in Advanced Instruction was developed for those looking for a new career in advanced driver/rider training, allowing existing learner instructors to reach their full potential. Successful delegates are able to gain entry onto the DSA Fleet Register (cars). The International Diploma is tailored to the needs of the specific country, organisation and participants.
